What's the difference between Vome Achievements and a custom award?
Vome Achievements are a platform-wide four-tier badge ladder, Bronze through Platinum, fueled by Vome Points. Every volunteer earns them by completing platform challenges. They are free on every plan and managed by Vome. Custom awards are completely designed by your team, with your own branding and rules. You decide who can earn them and how they are earned.
When does a custom award actually trigger?
The moment a logged hour or shift crosses the threshold you set. You pick the metric (hours or shifts) and the window: all-time, calendar year, a fixed date range, a rolling window of N days/weeks/months, or consecutive periods (e.g. 5 hours per month for 3 straight months). Vome uses the same hours and shifts your team already approves, so awards reflect verified work.
Can I send an award to a single volunteer with a personal note?
Yes. Custom awards can be sent manually to one volunteer or a hand-picked group, with a note attached. Useful for moments that no rule could capture: a volunteer who covered a hard shift, a five-year tenure that sits outside your usual milestones, or a thank-you at the end of a project.
What happens when an award lands? Who gets notified?
You can choose to have Vome email the volunteer the moment an award fires, at a time you choose, using your template, sender (the creator or a specific admin), and signature. Email variables like first name, award title, and window period are personalized per volunteer. You can also add admins who get notified each time the award is earned, so coordinators see recognition as it happens. This can all run through Vome's email system or through your integrated email (Outlook or Gmail).
Can I limit an award to a specific group of volunteers?
Yes. Each custom award can be scoped by tag, opportunity, site, completion of a specific onboarding sequence, active database status, or even an age range with configurable behavior when age is unknown. Volunteers outside the scope never see the award in their catalog or progress, so the experience stays clean for everyone else.

Vome Achievements (the Bronze-to-Platinum tier ladder and Vome Points) ship free on every plan, including Recruit. Custom awards (your own awards with auto rules or manual sending, eligibility scoping, and notifications) unlock on Enterprise.
